A no-closet entry works when the door can open fully and every coat has a hook that is not in that arc. Storage is a vertical rail, not a wardrobe.
Map the door swing
Open the door 90 degrees and tape the arc. Nothing taller than a doormat lives inside that wedge. If your hall is 30 inches wide, the first hook rail starts after the arc, not beside the hinges.
